BPI, PTTC team up to train SMEs

-

MANILA, Philippines - The Bank of the Philippine Islands (BPI) Foundation in partnership with Philippine Trade Training Center (PTTC), DTI’s training arm, have decided to expand BPI’s free learning program for SMEs called “Show Me, Teach Me, SME-Empowering Entrepreneurs” series by including Entrepreneurship Development Courses.

BPI Foundation’s joint venture with PTTC is expected to empower more small and medium enterprises nationwide by sharing bank’s expertise on financial and credit management supported by the training center’s entrepreneurial development sessions.

SMEs are those businesses that have assets ranging from P3 million to P5 million or a workforce of not more than 100.

Now, with the program’s expansion, SMEs will have more learning avenues with the introduction of new courses: “How to Start a Business,” “Basic Product Pricing and Costing” and “Basic Business Recording”

For one-and-a-half days of session, SMEs through this public-private partnership, will have access to enterprise development and capacity building expertise enhancing further their business operations leading to new opportunities.

BPI said it is an entrepreneurial development program for the SME made easy.

BPI Foundation and PTTC’s joint venture is yet to be formalized in the coming weeks but both institutions, recognizing the beneficial effects of such undertaking to promising entrepreneurs, decided to do an initial run of the courses in Iligan City at the Gazpacho’s Bar and Restaurant last Oct. 21-22 before rolling out in key cities nationwide.

“Show Me, Teach Me, SME” is a BPI Foundation initiative on its 6th year of activation. It has reached around 900 entrepreneurs from Angeles, Bacolod, Balanga, Batangas, Dagupan, Cagayan de Oro, Cebu, Davao, Iloilo, Koronadal, Tacloban, and Manila. The program continues to motivate entrepreneurs and is projected to encourage even more SMEs across the country with the programs’ expansion.
