One-stop Wellness Center

- Rey Gamboa -
Remember Dr. Juan Sanchez, who I wrote about in this column sometime back?

To refresh your memories he’s the surgeon who advocates the use of the ‘nerve blocking’ process in pain management for minor surgical operations and even in some major surgeries.

To the possible chagrin of many hospital owners, ‘nerve blocking’ when used in surgery could mean substantial savings in hospital bills as a surgical patient can just walk out after surgery, sans the usual one to two days of recuperation needed when major anesthesia is applied.

Dr. Sanchez’s vast experience include being one of the volunteer surgeons who give free services for ‘Operation Smile’, a regular international humanitarian endeavor that benefits countless patients with harelips and other mouth deformities. His surgical talent is considered by many of his peers in the medical profession as natural but his skills were developed and honed by years of study and specialization here and abroad.

Notwithstanding his medical practice that already takes 25 hours a day of his time, our good friend Jim still manages to write several books. If I’m not mistaken two of these were actual guide books for surgeons on the actual application of the ‘nerve blocking’ process in surgery and another an easy reading literature, also for doctors centering on practical tips on how to improve on their medical practice. He insists on sharing whatever knowledge and experience he has gathered and acquired through the years to all the young and budding doctors.

Answering to the needs of the times, Dr. Sanchez has also immersed himself in reconstructive surgery with cosmetic surgery presently at the forefront of his medical practice. His expertise in the latter is much appreciated by the many patrons who want to have their bodies and faces much improved (nose lift, face lift, bust augmentation, bust reduction, liposuction, etc.) that troop to "Elvie’s", located at Service Town of the Alabang Town Center’s basement, which is being run by Princess E’s managing director, Ms. Baby G.

Despite accolades and recognitions already heaped on him, Dr. Sanchez still worked on a venture that would make it more convenient for people seeking medical help to get it in a most accessible way. With this end in view and together with some of his peers who share the same vision of making medical reprieve as easy as shopping in a mall, the MD Eastwood Multi-Specialty Medical Clinic and Beauty & Wellness Center.

Located at the 3rd Floor of Eastwood Cybermall at Eastwood City in Libis, Quezon City, their Wellness Center offers Aesthetic Surgery & Dermatology, Anti-Aging, Microdermabrasion and other aesthetic services while their medical wing offers Dermatology, OB-Gynecology, Ophthalmology, Internal Medicine among many others.

I was part of the hordes of guests during its inauguration that was held recently and as I was given a grand tour of the place what impressed me was the presence of some modern high-tech medical equipment and the very practical layout and design of the center making it patient and doctor-friendly.

Not being a habitué of Eastwood City the initial concern that I expressed to Dr. Jim when he first mentioned about his new venture was parking. Only to be surprised to find out when I went there for the blessing and ribbon-cutting ceremony that there now exists a multi-story parking area in this new commercial haven in Libis, Quezon City.
Where To Go This Easter Sunday?
You can have loads of fun with the whole family this Easter Sunday and contribute to a worthy cause to boot!

The Easter Olympics Party at the Century promises a party with loads of food and fun for moms, dads and of course the kids. It will feature Olympic themed games, face painting, balloon twisting, coloring, a magic show and to top it all a unique type of egg hunt.

These will all happen this Easter Sunday, April 11 at the Century Park Hotel. What has been touted by our friends CPH general manager Paul Gill together with CPH PR wizards Steve Naguiat and Toti Palileo as ‘the biggest Easter event to hit Manila’, is a collaboration of Century Park Hotel, Nestle Food Services and Children’s Hour Philippines.

The moms and the dads pay P650 while kids who are 12 years old and below pay only P450 for all the fun and the goodies the whole family can enjoy this Easter Sunday but the proceeds of the event all go to worthy ventures of the Children’s Hour Philippines. Now Philippine Airlines can also send some lucky partygoers to Boracay Beach for free!

So, have fun and still manage to share for a good cause. See you at the Century Park Hotel this Easter Sunday.

Mabuhay!!! Be proud to be a Filipino.
