AJ Lim gets PAL backing for French Open

MANILA, Philippines – Albert “AJ” Lim braces for a grueling summer schedule this time as the country’s No. 1 junior player  competes in three major tournaments this month, including the French Open.

With Philippine Airlines (PAL) – through its president Jaime Bautista – as one of his major backers, Lim is hoping to achieve his goal at the end of the year – barge into the top 10 in the International Tennis Federation (ITF) junior rankings.

“I’m very thankful that PAL through the generosity of Sir Jaime Bautista is sponsoring all my trips abroad. With their help I’ll do my best to accomplish my mission,” said Lim.

Lim, who made history last year by becoming the youngest winner of the Philippine Columbian Association (PCA), is currently ranked No. 31.

Aside from PAL, also helping Lim is his campaign abroad is older brother and TAMA Partylist nominee Eng. Numero Lim.

In preparation for the French Open, Lim will see action in the Asian B1 Pune Open starting today in Pune, India then he will proceed to Milan, Italy for the 57 Trofeo Bonfiglio.

After the French Open slated May 29-June 11, he will compete in the Nike Junior International Championship in London from June 26 to July 1 for his final stop before the Wimbledon in July.

Lim is one of the four Filipino athletes granted scholarship by the International Olympic Committee (IOC) Solidarity Movement.

The four will receive a monthly allowance of $500 each to help them improve on their craft.
