WATCH: Steve Harvey takes back Miss Universe announcement

MANILA, Philippines  — "Family Feud" host Steve Harvey triggered a pandemonium when, as Monday's host of the Miss Universe 2015, he misread the envelope bearing the name of the winner.

Harvey initially proclaimed Miss Colombia Ariadna Gutiérrez, as this year's winner. Few minutes after the announcement, he returned onstage to interrupt the Colombian's celebration and admit the mistake: Miss Philippines Pia Wurtzbach is the real winner.

“I have to apologize,” Harvey said after walking back onstage. “The first runner-up is Colombia," he continued.

As the crowd went wild, the camera pans to Wurtzbach who is looking shell shocked as she realized she is Miss Universe 2015.

On his Twitter account, Harvey reiterated his apology, saying it was an honest mistake.

"I'd like to apologize wholeheartedly to Miss Colombia & Miss Philippines for my huge mistake. I feel terrible," Harvey said.

"Secondly, I'd like to apologize to the viewers at that I disappointed as well. Again it was an honest mistake," he continued.
