Sony announces running companion Smart B-Trainer
MANILA, Philippines – Sony has recently announced the new Smart B-Trainer™, an all-in-one training device and application, that literally motivates an exercise regime with its range of features, such as intelligent music playback based on heart rate monitoring and various training plans.
The Smart B-Trainer™ comes in a non-slip neckband-style design and consists of the SSE-BTR1 headphone-integrated device that is packed with six types of sensors—heart rate, acceleration, GPS, compass, gyro and barometer—and measures as well as records 11 types of running logs—heart rate, burned calories, distance, time, speed, pace, cadence, steps, stride, running route and elevation.
Based on a preset user profile and heart rate goal, the Smart B-Trainer™ measures the heart rate and automatically selects music for efficient training.
Music tempo analysis is carried out by Sony’s 12 Tone Analysis technology which extracts a variety of metadata through signal and statistical processing to analyze music waveforms. When the heart rate is higher than the targeted speed, a song with slower tempo will be automatically selected to guide the runner to slow down, and vice versa when the heart rate is lower than the targeted speed.
The user can also adjust the tempo of the song to match his or her mood at the time of running.
Smart B-Trainer™ for Running is an app that helps users manage running logs on their smartphones by looking back at the graphs of past track records, giving them a clearer picture of their training progress.
After a workout, users can transfer the running log to the app to view and compare results.
The app also provides a versatile selection of training plans from which users can choose the one that fits their workout goals—be it to get in shape, build strength, or prepare for a marathon.
The Basic Training Plan offers a range of options, enabling users to manually set running goals for the day (time, distance, burned calories, pace, etc.), or select from theme-based trainings, such as “Fat-burning training” or “Endurance training”.
Aside from its training features, the Smart B-Trainer also has a built-in 16GB of memory that can store up to more than 3,000 songs. The waterproof device can also be used to answer phone calls hands free via Bluetooth.
The Smart B-Trainer is available in select Sony Centres and authorized dealers beginning July 2015 at P12,999.00.
