Passion for prints
Fashion prints — florals, stripes, checks, ginghams, plaids, tweed, polka dots, animal skin, slogans, geometric shapes, camouflage, orientalia, even psychedelic, which were popular in the mid-’60s to ‘70s — are back! Pucci and Leonard made a big comeback with their boldly colored mix-and-match florals and stripes.
Vogue’s Anna Wintour, who is always photographed wearing prints, says “(I’d never wear) head-to-toe black.” She further adds, “Create your own style… Let it be unique for yourself and yet identifiable for others.”
Wearing prints is a fun way to stand out, whether it’s just a casual occasion or a formal event. Style goes deeper than what one is wearing.
However, it is important to note that one’s body shape or silhouette determines what should be worn. From casual to formal wear, proportion is the key to looking good. If something suits you, it may be worthwhile to stick to a similar design. Dress for your body shape and not for your age. Show parts of the body sparingly. If you bare your shoulder or cleavage, then don’t go overboard and show your legs, thighs and back as well. Less is always more, unless you are a burlesque dancer.
Fashion may come and go, but style outlasts all trends. Here are some of my amigas who share their passion for prints.
