‘Operation Hipos’

No food this time. An Ear source who works closely with urban poor groups there are actually some street dwellers who look forward to events like ASEAN and APEC meetings in Cebu so they can be taken off the streets, temporarily housed, and given food for a few days.

However, this recent ASEAN event turned out to be a dud for many of those rounded up after they were promised packed meals but none arrived, even as they were allowed to go back to their street dwellings.
