JVR wants city treasurer out
CEBU, Philippines - Talisay City Mayor-elect Johnny delos Reyes wants city treasurer Emma Macuto replaced before the new administration takes over on July 1.
In his letter to BLGF 7 director Carmelene Tugas, delos Reyes said the new administration has lost its trust and confidence in Macuto because of her partisanship during the last May 13 elections.
BLGF Manila executive director Salvador del Castillo and Finance Secretary Cesar Purisima have been furnished copies of the letter.
Delos Reyes asked the BLGF to appoint an acting city treasurer.
“Primarily, dugay na kaayo si Emma Macuto diha sa city hall ug wala nami na-satisfy sa iyang services,†vice-mayor elect and incumbent city Councilor Romeo Villarante told The Freeman.
One of the primary reasons why they wanted Macuto out at the city hall is that the city treasurer played politics in the last election.
In a separate interview, Macuto said she will just wait for the formal communication from the BLGF for her transfer.
In practice, it is the executive director of the BLGF of the Department of Finance that picks the treasurer from a list of at least three recommendees or nominees of the governor/mayor, subject to civil service law, rules and regulations. (FREEMAN)
