Ace Durano named PPP regional chief
CEBU, Philippines — Former Department of Tourism (DOT) secretary Ace Durano was named the regional president for Central Visayas of the Partido Pilipino sa Pagbabago (PPP), the party that recently nominated Davao City Mayor Sara Duterte as its presidential candidate for the 2022 polls.
“We will work closely with our partners in Central Visayas and do our best to realize the vision of the party,” Durano said.
Durano is running for governor in Cebu. He will run against incumbent Governor Gwendolyn Garcia for the province’s top post in the May 2022 polls.
Durano will have Vice Governor Hilario Davide III as his runningmate.
Durano’s appointment paper was signed by Leonardo Fernandez, the founder of the national party.
Durano will represent the party in all regional gatherings and functions, and act as chief administrator and official spokesperson of the region. He also has authority to approve plans and to disburse funds of the chapter.
He will also represent the region in the national directorate and will set the agenda during regional and general membership meetings.
Durano served as the Tourism chief of former President Gloria Macapagal-Arroyo. He also served as Congressman of Cebu’s 5th District, which is now occupied by Garcia’s son-in-law, Rep. Duke Frasco. —KQD (FREEMAN)
