Shows to catch this Valentine's season
CEBU, Philippines — Whether it’s with your romantic partner or with close family and friends, the upcoming Valentine’s weekend is packed with events where you can spend quality time together — may it be a concert, a night of clubbing, a comedy show, or even a trip to the cinema.
Here is a list of V-Day shows happening in Cebu City this weekend:
Arnel Pineda at Dean and Deluca
Journey lead vocalist Arnel Pineda returns to Cebu City for an intimate pre-Valentine’s show at Dean and Deluca Cebu – The Mezzanine on February 13, 7 p.m. According to the venue, table reservations are sold out, though limited slots will be accommodated for walk-in attendees.
Zsa Zsa, Erik, Angeline, AON at NUSTAR
Kapamilya singers Zsa Zsa Padilla, Erik Santos, Angeline Quinto, and P-pop group AON will head to the Grand Ballroom of NUSTAR Resort Cebu to serenade Cebuanos on Hearts Day as part of the establishment's Spotlight Sessions Grand Concert series on Feb. 14, 8 p.m. Tickets are available through NUSTAR’s e-ticketing website, with prices starting at P2,000 for bronze and going up to P8,000 for VIP.
Arthur Nery at Robinsons Galleria Cebu
OPM artist Arthur Nery will perform hits such as “Palaisipan” and “Isa Lang” at the atrium of Robinsons Galleria Cebu on Feb. 14, 4 p.m., as part of the mall chain’s nationwide R Music Fest, running throughout February. A single receipt with a minimum purchase of P1,500 from Feb. 9 to 14 at any store or restaurant in the mall entitles shoppers to one pass to the concert, redeemable at the concierge on the first floor. The first 60 pass redeemers will also get the chance to join a meet-and-greet with Nery.
Dogshow Divas at Ayala Central Bloc
If you’re looking for something comedic for your date, a special Hearts Day show of “Dogshow Divas,” hosted by Macoy Dubs and Baus Rufo, will take place on Feb. 14, 1 p.m. at the Activity Center of Ayala Malls Central Bloc, promising laughs, pop culture references, and bardagulan all in one. One entry pass requires P5,000 worth of receipts, either single or accumulated (maximum of three), from food and retail merchants at the mall from Feb. 1 to 14. Meet-and-press passes require an additional minimum single receipt of P2,000. Bring one valid ID along with the receipt(s) to the ground floor concierge for redemption. This show is only for adults 18 years old and above.
Rex Smith at TOPS
Rex Smith returns to Cebu after nine years, just in time for the season of love, as he performs “You Take My Breath Away” and “Simply Jessie” at one of Busay’s scenic peaks on Feb. 13 and 15, 8:30 p.m. Tickets for the Feb. 13 show are sold out, while passes for the Feb. 15 performance are still available via Ticketmelon, Montebello Villa Hotel, and the TOPS Souvenir Shop, or by calling 032 256-5000 or 0968 853 0511. Gold seating is priced at P3,500, while VIP seating costs P5,000.
AHOF at Cebu Coliseum
Newly debuted K-pop boy group AHOF will see their Cebuano FOHAs for a post-Valentine’s fan meet titled “AHOF for Love” at the Cebu Coliseum on Feb. 15, with two shows scheduled at 1 p.m. and 6 p.m. Tickets are available through Ticketnet Online, with prices ranging from P2,800 for upper box to P20,000 for PVIP. Premium perks include access to both shows and the pre-show soundcheck, as well as signed merchandise such as polaroids and posters, and a show-exclusive photocard.
ASIAN BOYZ Presents “STUPID YOUNG LIVE” at ONYX
If you’re in the mood to turn up ahead of the big day, rappers Logarthugs, ELG, The Northzidaz, and Vigilante will bring the energy to Onyx Superclub at City Time Square, Mandaue City, on Feb. 13 for the “Stupid Young Live” show. Tickets are available through the venue’s partner ticket sellers, priced at P399 for general admission and P699 for VIP.
The Calling at Waterfront Lahug
You can also opt to move your concert date a week later, as American band The Calling stops in Cebu City to perform hits such as “Wherever You Will Go” and “Stigmatized” on Feb. 20, 8 p.m. at Waterfront Cebu City Hotel and Casino. The show marks the kickoff of their Philippine leg of the “Before the World Turns to Dust” tour. Tickets are available online via Ticketmelon or at the hotel’s ticket booth, with prices starting at P1,200 for general admission up to P5,000 for VIP.
“The Wuthering Loved One” double feature at your favorite cinema
If a trip to the movies is more to your liking for a romantic date, you can opt for a double feature as two love stories hit Philippine cinemas on Feb. 11: “Wuthering Heights,” starring Margot Robbie and Jacob Elordi, and “The Loved One,” led by Jericho Rosales and Anne Curtis.
