MANILA, Philippines — Retired boxing legend Manny Pacquiao joked that he saw a future in boxing for Utah Jazz guard Jordan Clarkson after the latter tried to square up against Golden State Warriors’ Jonathan Kuminga in their game on Wednesday (Thursday, Manila time).

Clarkson had been involved in a scuffle with Kuminga in the final minute of the Jazz’s 124-123 victory over Golden State, which resulted in his ejection.

Pacquiao commented on Clarkson’s fighting stance in a post by US sports website Bleacher Report.

“I see potential,” quipped boxing’s only eight-division world champion.

Despite Clarkson’s absence in the endgame, the Jazz were able to pull off the victory as they scored five straight points in the final 12 seconds of the game.

The Jazz are currently sixth in the West with a 15-12 slate.

Before Clarkson’s issue with Kuminga, he’d just been slapped with a US$15,000 fine in the Jazz’s game against the Portland Trailblazers where he tossed his headband in frustration to an empty seat.

Clarkson, a former NBA Sixth Man of the Year, is expected to play for Gilas Pilipinas in the Philippines’ hosting of the FIBA World Cup next year.
