First Roligon Pintakasi International Challenge set
MANILA, Philippines — Pintakasi, the country’s long-running and prestigious cockfighting, goes international as the Roligon Mega Cockpit Arena in Parañaque City hosts the 1st Roligon Pintakasi International Challenge in February next year.
Hosted by Rolando “Ka Lando” Luzong and Nick Crisostomo, the 12-cock International Gamefowl Breeders Derby (The Bloodline Challenge) opens with a three-cock Group A eliminations on Feb. 18.
Group B and C eliminations follow on February 20 and 21. The four-cock semifinals are set Feb. 22 (Group A), Feb. 23 (B), and Feb. 24 (C).
The first 40 entries with 4, 4.5, or 5 points will clash for the five-cock pre-finals on Feb. 25, while the rest of the entries with similar accumulated points take centerstage on Feb. 27.
All entries with 5.5, 6, 6.5, and 7 points after the pre-finals will clash in the five-cock finals for the championship where a Galo Meliton trophy – in honor of the late Sabong Magazine publisher and known ‘Father of Cockfight Derby’ in the country – is to be handed out. The name of Pintakasi Champion will be etched in a Perpetual Trophy which will be installed permanently in the Roligon Mega Arena lobby.
“This is a first of its kind event at the historic Roligon Mega Cockpit wherein the first P3 M, P4 M, P6.5 M, P8.8 M, and P10 M derby promotions took place. These daring promotions led by Rolly Ligon showed the way how marathon cockfighting tournaments should be held that served as models for breeders’ federation derbies staged later on,” said Luzong.
