Philippines Para bets eye Paris 2024
MANILA, Philippines — See you in Paris.
Members of the Philippine Para team vowed to improve on their performance in the Tokyo Paralympics last month by setting their sights on several international events including the 2024 Paris Games.
“Taas ng level ng competition. Hindi siya nagpapababa ng morale,” said swimmer Gary Bejino, 25, in yesterday’s online PSA Forum. “
Wheelchair racer Jerrold Mangliwan, for his part, isn’t giving up on his hope of qualifying to the quadrennial event again and hopefully scoop up a medal despite his age.
“Back to the drawing board,” said the 41-year-old Mangliwan. “Hindi ako humihintong mangarap. Possible naman makakuha ng medal. Age doesn’t matter.”
Bejino and Mangliwan along with tanker Ernie Gawilan carried the fight for the country after three of their teammates tested positive for COVID-19.
They were all proud of their performance despite missing out on a medal.
