After F2, PLDT also wants Petron’s hide
MANILA, Philippines — Can PLDT Home Fibr slay another giant in the Philippine Superliga Grand Prix?
Days after their confidence-boosting reversal over fancied F2 Logistics, the Power Hitters gun for the scalp of yet another heavyweight as they meet Petron in a battle of streaking teams today at the Filoil Flying V Center.
With imports Kendra Dahlke and Grace Lazard and locals Jasmine Nabor, Aiko Urdas and Joyce Sta. Rita leading the charge, the Power Hitters delivered an A-1 performance in toppling the Cargo Movers for their third straight win in the second round and a third-best 6-4 card overall.
They hope to sustain this fiery form when they face the 9-0 Blaze Spikers at 4:15 p.m.
“It’s a good start for us, hopefully we can keep this up,” said PLDT coach Roger Gorayeb, whose squad moved two wins behind the No. 2 F2. “We’re not actually thinking about the Top 2 yet, the 3 or 4 position is the more immediate goal. At the same time we want to get back at the teams that beat us in the first round.”
It will be a tall order, though, as the powerhouse Blaze Spikers have been topnotch the whole tournament, dropping only one set through nine games, and show no intention of slowing down.
