CEU, Adamson stay at PBA D-League Aspirants’ Cup helm

MANILA, Philippines — Centro Escolar University came through with a 42-point explosion in the second quarter and went on to smother AMA Online Education, 118-83, and stay on top of the PBA D-League Aspirants’ Cup at the Ynares Sports Arena in Pasig yesterday.

Dragged into a tight 25-24 game by the Titans in the first 10 minutes, the Scorpions unleashed their run and gun game, scoring almost at will while holding their rivals to 17 markers to post a huge 67-41 bulge at the turn.

“At the start, we’re still working on our adjustment especially on (Mark) Andaya but we started to run, the result became better for us,” said CEU coach Yong Garcia after steering the Scorpions to their sixth win against a lone defeat.

Earlier, Jerie Pingoy hit three triples down the stretch as he powered Akari-Adamson to an 89-79 victory over Batangas-Emilio Aguinaldo College, 89-79, to stay right behind CEU at 6-2.
