Pacquiao says he dreamed of losing to Mayweather prior to fight

LAS VEGAS – Manny Pacquiao revealed that he already had a vision of losing the biggest fight of his career.

In a sit-down with select reporters right after he made his grand arrival Tuesday (Wednesday in Manila) at the lobby of the MGM Grand here, Pacquiao talked about a dream he had prior to his megabuck showdown with Floyd Mayweather Jr. last year.

He offered no concrete details though, other than knowing beforehand that he will lose to Mayweather and that controversy will follow.

“In my dream, I lost the fight. But there's a controversy,” Pacquiao told reporters.

He said the vision occurred exactly one month before he fought Mayweather, who defeated him via decision in what ended up as the richest fight in boxing history.

There was indeed controversy as Pacquiao was reported to have fought with an injured right shoulder. The late revelation of the injury prompted outcry from some fans who claimed they duped as Pacquiao wasn’t in top form when he faced Mayweather.

Pacquiao added that he’s also dreamed about the outcome of other fights, but not all of them.

“(The) Oscar (Dela Hoya fight), yes. But not against Ricky Hatton. (Miguel) Cotto too,” he continued.

The Filipino icon takes on Timothy Bradley on Saturday (Sunday in Manila), but questions about the Mayweather bout continued to haunt him. That led Pacquiao to recall the dream he had about the Mayweather fight.

“It's not just me alone (in the dream), I saw somebody else. So I have witnesses,” he said.

As to Saturday’s fight, Pacquiao said he has no idea about the outcome, but as usual, guaranteed that he’ll do his best. The reporters then turned to his trainer Freddie Roach, jokingly asking him whether he had dreamed about the fight.

“Yes, we’re gonna knock him out,” Roach replied in jest.
