Que climbs to joint 24th with 3-under 68
MANILA, Philippines - Angelo Que fought back from two 70s with a three-under 68, moving from joint 39th to a share of 24th after three rounds of the European Masters now paced by Scot Craig Lee at the Crans-sur-Sierre Golf Club in Switzerland Saturday.
Que hit six birdies in the first 15 holes but fumbled with a double-bogey on the par-3 16th and dropped another stroke on the tough 18th, finishing with a 33-35 for a 54-hole total of five-under 208.
Although he stood too far behind Lee’s 197 total spiked by a stirring 10-under 61 in the third round, Que stayed on course for a crack at a Top 10 finish in the annual world ranking tournament featuring some of the world’s top players.
For the third straight day, the ace Filipino shotmaker birdied the par-5 No. 1 then gunned down another on the sixth before closing out his frontside stint with another birdie for a 33.
He birdied the short par-4 10th and No. 14 for the third straight time and added another birdie on the next to go six-under in the day. But he hit a wayward shot on No. 16 and after a routine par on the 17th, he failed to return a six-footer for that bogey.
