Puerto Princesa 4th leg of Asian moto

-

MANILA, Philippines - For the seventh straight year, Puerto Princesa City, the country’s sports tourism capital is hosting the Philippine leg of the FIM Asian Motocross Championship Series dubbed the “Mayor Edward Hagedorn Cup” which unfolds at the city’s world-class motocross racetrack Feb. 21.

The annual event is a collaboration of NAMSSA, the City of Puerto Princesa, Philippine Olympic Committee, Philippine Sports Commission, Oakley Philippines, Department of Tourism and Monark Equipment.

Each year, the event draws an estimated 50,000 spectators, making it the country’s premier spectator motorsport event. The event brings together the national champions from Japan, Indonesia, India, Thailand, China, Mongolia, Guam, Iran, Korea, UAE, and the Philippines to contest motocross supremacy in Asia.

The winner in the centerpiece Asian 125 category will bring home the Mayor Edward Hagedorn Cup, a handsome sterling silver token from the city mayor and his constituents.

Mayor Hagedorn is once again extending his full support to the endeavor with hopes of surpassing the success and spectator interest the event garnered in the earlier years.

The international riders and their supporters will be treated to a tour of the city’s most popular destinations such as the Crocodile Farm, the pristine beaches in Honda Bay and the St. Paul Subterranean River, considered one of the Seven Natural Wonders of Asia.

Philippine Motocross Rider of the Year Kenneth San Andres heads the banner cast of young local riders competing in the premier 125cc category this year.
