More on why they read The STAR

SPORTING CHANCE - Joaquin M. Henson -

The 25 winners of our Christmas contest trooped to The Philippine STAR office yesterday morning to claim their prizes.

Here are some more of their answers to the question – why they read The Philippine STAR:

Jerson Amancio, 29. Service crew of 4650 Pinagbuklod Street, V. Mapa, Sta. Mesa: “I always read The Philippine STAR because of its different approach when sharing information with readers. I always read the sports section before going to the other sections. I look forward to Mr. Quinito Henson’s commentary and analysis about what’s happening, whether it is Manny Pacquiao’s fights or the PBA or NBA finals, UAAP, NCAA, etc. I like the trivia he shares with readers especially when sports-related. The Philippine STAR is a complete package in terms of providing us with different kinds of news, articles, lifestyles and latest trends. Finally, Mr. Henson is totally the dean of sports of all Philippine broadsheets. Hope you’ll continue to discover trivia for the benefit of those of us who were not born in the 70s for us to know more about the early days of Philippine sports.”

Roberto Santiago, 48. CPA/employee of AMON Group of Companies of Bahay Caridad Subdivision, Bayani Road, Dona Imelda, Quezon City: “The Philippine STAR is ‘the complete newspaper.’ Its headlines accurately and promptly capture the news. My job requiring, I spend much time digesting the business section and being a sports aficionado, I find reading the sports section more than gratifying. I must admit that even those ‘reserved’ for the opposite sex, the youth and children entertain me as well. Probing the editorial section, the articles of which are getting bolder, provides the climax of my daily ritual of information gathering. Reading The Philippine STAR can be likened to enjoying nirvana for a while.”

Orlyn Baccay, 45. Security guard of Zone 1, Signal Village, Taguig City: “Madalas kong basahin ang Philippine STAR dahil sa mga una at maiinit na balita araw-araw. Ito rin ay nakapagbibigay sa akin ng mga impormasyong napapanahon.”

I am an avid reader of dailies since my college days and I find The STAR as the best in terms of views, information and bringing the current news up to date. My every morning sip from my cup of coffee is not complete without The STAR as I read the headlines, the world, the sports section, entertainment and the rest follows. And I make sure I solve the two mind-boggling puzzles that makes a good morning for me.”

Atty. Ace Devino Custodio, 30. Assistant corporate secretary of No. 120 K-3rd Street, Kamuning, Quezon City: “I read The Philippine STAR everyday because it provides balanced and well-researched information without prejudice whatsoever.”

Virgilio Galindes Jr., 25. Clinic nurse of No. 418 Barangka Drive, Mandaluyong City: “I read The Philippine STAR because it keeps me updated on the latest news and happenings in our country in terms of politics, economic ups and downs, sports, disaster, entertainment and many more. I also like the promotional advertisements and opinion section especially ‘A Law Each Day’ by Jose Sison that gives readers enlightenment in terms of legal cases. I always look at the entertainment section for the TV guide, especially the movies on HBO because I love watching movies as my pastime. The last section I read is health because as a registered nurse, I should be updated on health issues.”
