John-O defuses LBC; Hapee trips ICTSI five

Mark Macapagal outgunned American Alex Compton as John-O weathered repeated comebacks by LBC Batangas to pull off a 83-74 victory yesterday in the Sunkist PBL Unity Cup at the Pasig Sports Center.
Making up for subpar effort in his teams humiliating 48-71 loss to ICTSI La Salle a week back, Macapagal torched the Blades with 20 points including 11 in the fourth quarter that sealed the Senators their fifth win in seven outings.
Compton had another impressive performance, finishing with two more points than Macapagal but was outscored by the latter in the final period, 6-11, as the Blades fell to their fifth defeat against three wins.
In the other game, Hapee Toothpaste rallied from 17 points down as it outlasted upset conscious ICTSI La Salle, 80-71, to remain at the helm with a 6-1 slate. Joey Villar
