Government execs, celebrities to vie in Yulo tourney

Senior members and sportsmen belonging to the Canlubang Golf and Country Club as well as former and current government officials and other celebrities have signed up for the silver anniversary staging of the Jose Yulo Memorial golf team tournament slated Jan. 25 and 26 at the Cangolf’s north and south courses.

Cangolf president Arsenio Yulo, former chair of the Public Estate Authority and administrator of the Sugar Regulatory body, will team up with former justice secretary Silvestro Bello, a member of the peace panel, while Jose Yulo Jr. will be paired with Cecil Hechanova, former chair of the Philippine Sports Commission.

Former finance minister Roberto de Ocampo, a single digit handicapper, wll also see action with partner Cesar Vivas while sportsman Vic Vic Villavicencio will play in tandem with Candido Flor.

The other noted teams are those of Cangolf manager Luigi Yulo and Allan Tabhan, Joey Yulo and balikbayan Dan Patalot, Monet Lao and former Rep. Amado Bagatsing and Marvic Sotto and Ulay Garcia.

Cangolf manager Rollie Viray said that as of yesterday there are 102 teams or 204 participants who have registered for the event.

The 25th Yulo Memorial tournament is sponsored by the Yulo family, San Miguel Corporation, Golfworks, W/S Sports, Nestle Philippines, Proline Sports Center, Century Park Hotel, Taisho Pharmaceutical, and Quantum Foods.

A brand-new Mitsubishi Lancer GLS 1600cc M/T and a Club Car golf cart will be staked for the first hole-in-one feat. They are sponsored by Mitsubishi Motor Phils. and Turf Co.
