Dumaguete fire razes 4 trucks
CEBU, Philippines – An early morning fire along G. del Pilar Street in Barangay Bantayan, this city, on Sunday razed four ten-wheeler trucks and one Elf truck, including spare parts, newly purchased tires, the total cost of which amounted to about P4 million or P5 million.
The victim, Michael Balbon, an accredited BMEG assembler, said the fire was so quick that after only a few minutes, all the vehicles and stocks were burnt. He said the vehicles had no insurance.
Initial investigations disclosed the fire started from the room of Balbon’s personnel who were using a mosquito killer, which they however said they put off before going out of the compound.
Timely arrival of firemen from the city’s Bureau of Fire Protection prevented the fire from spreading to a nearby area inside the compound where P1 million worth of cassava chips are stored and ready for shipment to Cebu.
