PNP-Negros Oriental head moving to Cebu?

Judy Flores Partlow - The Freeman

DUMAGUETE CITY, Philippines — Senior Supt. Noli Romana, officer-in-charge of the Negros Oriental Provincial Police Office, may be relieved from his current position after having served a few months in the province, and could be the next director of the Cebu City Police Office.

Romana told reporters here that even before his assignment to Negros Oriental, prior to the May 13 elections, he had already applied for the post in Cebu City.

Cebu City Mayor Mike Rama had wanted Romana to be the Cebu City Police director before, but the police official was appointed instead to the Negros Oriental Police, replacing Sr/ Supt. Edward Carranza who was reassigned to the Police Regional Office-7 headquarters in Cebu, during the elections.

According to Romana, he applied last year for the position of Cebu City Police director and went through all the phases of the PNP selection process until his application had reached the office of Mayor Rama, who in turn picked his name from among the list of officials recommended to the post.

Governor Roel Degamo, for his part, announced that in the event of Romana's relief as OIC provincial police director, he will recommend for replacement Sr. Supt. Petronelli Baldebrin, who hailed from Siaton town in Negros Oriental.

Baldebrin is qualified to head the Negros Oriental Police because of a good track record in the organization besides being a native of the province, said Degamo, who however has yet to receive a list of names of police officials recommended to replace Romana. (FREEMAN)
