Tolentino muling nahalal na POC president

MANILA, Philippines — Sa ikalawang sunod na pagkakataon ay pamumunuan ni cylicng chief Abraham ‘Bambol’ Tolentino ang Philippine Olympic Committee (POC).

Inungusan ni Tolentino si archery head Atty. Clint Aranas, 30-22, sa idinaos na eleksyon kahapon para makamit ang kanyang inaasam na four-year term bilang pangulo ng POC.

“Of course, it’s an honor to serve the Filipino athlete and the country. This is a full four year term,” sabi ni Tolentino. “Definitely, there will be a lot of surprises. In more than one year, we showed a lot. Paano pa kaya ‘yung full four years?”

Wagi rin ang ibang nasa tiket ni Tolentino kagaya nina basketbal chief Al Panlilio laban kay Juico, 30-23, para sa first vice-president seat at Ormoc City Mayor Richard Gomez ng fen-cing at modern pentathlon kontra kay Ada Milby ng rugby, 31-22, para sa 2nd vice president spot.

Ang iba pang nanalo sa grupo ni Tolentino ay sina Cynthia Carrion ng gymnastics laban kay Julian Camacho ng wushu, 27-22, para sa treasurer at Chito Loyzaga ng baseball kontra kay Monico Puentevella ng weightlifting, 27-24, para sa auditor.

Natalo naman ang katiket ni Tolentino na si Tom Carrasco ng t­riathlon laban kay Steve Hontiveros, 28-25, ng handball para sa POC chairmanship.

Ang bubuo ng four-person POC Executive Board ay sina Pearl Managuelod ng muay thai, Dave Carter ng judo, Dr. Raul Canlas ng surfing at Charlie Ho ng netball.
