AllHome joins S.I.L.Y.A. in honoring senior citizens

MANILA, Philippines - Tito Lorete Alcala used to lament the lack of seating facilities for senior citizens in many public places. It did not help that legislation was also behind in requiring establishments to provide these.

This was why he founded S.I.L.Y.A., or Sa Iyo Lolo at Lola Yantok Aming Alay, a personal advocacy to honor senior citizens. The advocacy provides rocking chairs in public places that the elderly could use.

Recently, AllHome, the one-stop shop for all housing needs catering to contractors, architects, interior designers and homeowners, welcomed S.I.L.Y.A. rocking chairs at AllHome Sta. Rosa, Laguna in an official turnover led by EVP for marketing Camille Villar. AllHome is a valued channel-partner of the advocacy.

Alcala also dedicated two of the rocking chairs to Manny Villar and wife Cynthia as his 192nd and 193rd honorees for their active involvement in the community and support for the cause.

Socrates Reyes, president of Sta. Rosa’s Barangay Dila Office of Senior Citizen Affairs, expressed his appreciation to S.I.L.Y.A. and AllHome for sharing the service to their community.

Each rocking chair is handmade by a group of Filipino artisan furniture makers from around the country who are seniors themselves.

To date, S.I.L.Y.A. has already donated some 400 chairs from Luzon all the way to Mindanao. Alcala hopes that love for the elderly, an attribute that Filipinos are known to possess, would not only spread across the country but would be extended globally as well.

An affiliate of Vista Land, the country’s largest home builder, AllHome opened its first store in Pampanga in August 2013. It has opened nine new stores in various areas in Metro Manila, in Cebu, Bulacan, Cavite, and its flagship store in Sta. Rosa, Laguna.

AllHome just opened its 10th and biggest store in Imus, Cavite this month. The stores have floor areas ranging from 7,000 sqm to 15,000 sqm. Two more AllHome stores are slated to open by the end of the year.
