WATCH: China advises Trump to switch iPhone for Huawei over privacy concerns

Philstar.com

The New York Times reported that Chinese and Russian spies have bugged American President Donald Trump's personal mobile phone and monitor his chat with friends.

Trump, who has been expressive of his disdain on the Times and has dismissed its reporting "fake news," tweeted a response to the report: "I rarely use a cellphone, & when I do it's government authorized. I like Hard Lines. Just more made up Fake News!"

The Times' report said that Trump has long insisted to keep using his cellphone despite warnings by his security staff that it is not secure.

China's Foreign Ministry on Thursday issued its own response to the report, which it also called "fake." It could win an Oscar for Best Screenplay, its spokesperson Hua Chunying said.

The ministry offered two suggestions for Trump, one of which is to switch his phone from an American branded one to a Chinese model.
