Taxi meter rigging: Fare jump from P35 to P50

CABBIE CONFESSION. A mediaman took a taxi from Ayala Business Park to Asilo church yesterday. During the short ride, the taxi driver told the mediaman that next week, he will only get to drive twice a week since more than half of the taxi units owned by the operator could not be used. He said, “Wala man kuno na-renew ang prangkisa sa mga sakyanan. Imbis nga taktakon ang ubang drayber, magpuli-puli nalang kuno ming mga drayber. Gutom na pud akong pamilya ani.”

RIGGED METER. When the taxi stopped across Asilo church, the mediaman saw the fare in the meter was P35. While counting his money for the exact cab fare, he glanced again at the meter and suddenly saw the fare jump from P35 to P50. Angry, he told the driver, “Unsa gud ning binuang nimo ‘Bay. Naglisud tuod ka, pero tarunga pud na imong trabaho uy. Ayaw pangilad!”
