Foreigner, mediaman in a cheesy confrontation
December 28, 2006 | 12:00am
CHEESE FIGHT. The Ear heard that a Cebuano mediaman and a Caucasian had a heated argument on Christmas Eve at the cheese and dairy section of an uptown supermarket. This mediaman and a companion were trying to decide which imported cheese would be best for Noche Buena when a tall Caucasian behind them snapped, "Are you going to stand there all day?!" Surprised at the rude behavior of the foreigner, the mediaman said, "Are you in a hurry? Why don't you wait your turn?" The rest of the conversation went like this:
Caucasian man: "Yes, I am!"
Mediaman: "Well, you could have said excuse me. It's common courtesy."
Mediaman's companion: "You are in our country. You should adapt to us, not us adapt to you."
The foreigner glared, reached around the two, got his cheese and walked away in a huff. The mediaman delivered a parting shot, "Merry Christmas! Somebody is lacking Christmas spirit here!"
The two were later heard commenting, "Abi siguro ato niya nga puwede lang singka-singkahan niya tanang Pinoy, mo bahag dayon ang ikog. Da, kasugat lagi siyag mga Pinoy nga makasukol niyag ininsultog Ininglis!"
