MANILA, Philippines — First Lady Liza Marcos yesterday led the distribution of free rice to persons with disabilities in Malabon.

Up to 3,000 PWDs received 10 kilos of rice each under the “Hapag Sigurado: Rice Distribution para sa Malabueño” program.

Malabon Mayor Jeannie Sandoval joined the distribution with Metro Manila Council president and San Juan Mayor Francis Zamora.

“Through our coordination with the national government, we can expand our reach for Malabueños and ensure that no one is left behind in our initiative for food security, livelihood and development,” Sandoval said.

The rice assistance is funded through the Local Government Support Fund.

According to Sandoval, the rice distribution for vulnerable sectors will have four tranches.

Up to 15,799 rice packs have been distributed under the program since May 6, equivalent to 76.59 percent of the target 20,629 beneficiaries in the first tranche.
