Quezon City intensifies drive vs rabies
MANILA, Philippines — To eliminate rabies-related deaths by 2030, the Quezon City government has strengthened its pet vaccination initiatives.
“Rabies is preventable. Every vaccinated pet protects a family and a community,” Mayor Joy Belmonte said in a statement yesterday.
In line with its commitment to achieve the global goal of zero human rabies deaths by 2030, the city government vaccinated over 211,000 residents and more than 210,000 dogs and cats against rabies across 142 barangays last year.
Two rabies-related deaths were reported in Quezon City in 2025.
To further improve services, dog and cat owners may sign up their pets through the QC Vet e-pet registration system using the QC e-services app.
In addition to pet registration, fur parents can also book vaccinations and access other services such as deworming, consultations, microchipping and spay or neuter.
The city government convened a rabies summit to strengthen coordination between the government, private sector and members of civil society.
“We will keep working with our partners to protect our residents and their pets,” city veterinarian Rey del Napoles said.
