Man died from stabbing after Mendiola protest?

MANILA, Philippines — A man reportedly died from a stab wound after the protest against corruption in Mendiola, Manila turned violent on Sunday, the Department of Health (DOH)said yesterday.
The DOH said the unidentified “male protester” was declared dead on arrival at the Jose R. Reyes Memorial Medical Center.
The fatality is said to be among the 48 people, including rallyists and police personnel, who were brought to the government hospital after masked protesters turned unruly.
Two police officers suffered minor injuries such as lacerations and bruises. They were discharged after treatment, the DOH said.
The others sustained injuries such as foot wound, eye trauma, head trauma, injury to the vein in the arm and gunshot wound.
Four of those injured were sent home after treatment. Two others were admitted for further medical attention.
Thirty-nine protesters are still undergoing physical examination as part of the process before detention.
“There is no immediate threat to their health,” the DOH said.
The DOH said the patients are covered by the zero-balance billing program.
