49 South Korea fugitives deported

MANILA, Philippines — The Bureau of Immigration yesterday deported 49 South Korean fugitives, most of whom faced fraud cases in their homeland.
Immigration agents and the South Korean embassy arranged the flight for 43 men and six women on Jeju Air at the Ninoy Aquino International Airport Terminal 3.
The deportees include Choi Hojun, 36, who was arrested on April 14 in Angeles City, Pampanga.
Choi is wanted in South Korea for being the alleged mastermind behind a phishing syndicate that stole 1.7 billion won from 200 victims.
Han Jonghoon, 42, was apprehended on July 4 in San Juan City for allegedly operating 23 online gambling websites, targeting South Koreans and pocketing over two trillion won in profit.
Jung Hoesung, 40, is wanted for operating illegal online platforms, while Choi Byeongil, 44, is the alleged mastermind in a real estate deposit loan scam.
“The Philippines is not a haven for foreign fugitives. Those who abuse our country’s hospitality will face the harshest penalty of law,” Immigration Commissioner Joel Viado said.
