MANILA, Philippines — Sixty-three Filipinos are returning from Haiti amid the ongoing conflict in the Caribbean country, the Department of Migrant Workers (DMW) announced on Sunday.

Since there are no flights from Haiti, the DMW said the Philippine government is working to charter a flight for the repatriation of the Filipinos.

“To date, there are no Filipinos injured in the security crisis in Haiti,” the DMW said.

There are 115 Filipinos in Haiti, based on DMW records.

DMW officer-in-charge Hans Cacdac said the Filipinos have expressed their desire to be repatriated.

Cacdac said there is no specific date of arrival yet.

The Department of Foreign Affairs (DFA) previously raised Alert Level 3 in Haiti, which means voluntary repatriation of Filipinos.

The DFA and the Overseas Workers Welfare Administration are coordinating the planned repatriation with the Filipino community in Haiti.

Haiti is experiencing a breakdown of law and order, with reports of civilian casualties and disruption in operations.
