2 boats collide in Pangasinan river; 1 dead

BANI, Pangasinan, Philippines —A fishpond caretaker died when his motorized boat was hit by another boat in Alaminos River in Barangay San Miguel in this town on Monday.

The Ilocos police identified the fatality as Marcelo Carlit, 56, a resident of Barangay Polo in Alaminos City.

Initial investigation showed Carlit and his companion Celzo Rancapero were on one of the boats when it was struck by the boat manned by Bobby Bauzon, 56.

Carlit reportedly fell into the river due to the impact of the collision.

Bauzon, who was unhurt, said he did not notice Carlit’s boat.
