MANILA, Philippines — The COVID positivity rates in the National Capital Region and most provinces in Luzon continued to decrease, the OCTA Research group said yesterday.

In a Twitter post, OCTA fellow Guido David said the COVID positivity rate or the percentage of people found positive for the virus in Metro Manila dropped from 21.7 percent on May 27 to 16.8 percent on June 3.

Metro Manila’s COVID positivity rate first decreased from a “high risk” of 24.4 percent on May 23 to a “moderate” 19.9 percent on May 30.

David said the positivity rates in the provinces of Bulacan, La Union, Rizal and Tarlac also decreased to moderate on Saturday.

Tarlac posted the lowest positivity rate at 15.6 percent, down from 21. 2 percent in the previous week.

“Positivity rates are now decreasing in most of Luzon,” David said.

Fewer COVID cases were also reported in Batangas, Benguet, Cagayan, Camarines Sur, Cavite, Laguna, Oriental Mindoro, Palawan, Quezon and Zambales.

David said the country’s COVID positivity rate was at 18.1 percent on Sunday.
