PCG officer nabbed in Zamboanga sting

MANILA, Philippines — An officer of the Philippine Coast Guard (PCG) was arrested in a sting in Zamboanga City over the weekend.

Seaman 1/C Bernabe Cosme Delin Jr., 32, was collared along with his alleged companions, Gilbert Johnston and Edgar Mahinay in Barangay Cabataangan.

Police seized from the suspects five plastic sachets believed to contain shabu, according to PCG commandant Admiral Artemio Abu.

If proven guilty, Delin will be dismissed from the service, Abu said.

The PCG-Southwestern Mindanao District said it would conduct random drug tests among its personnel to ensure that they are not using illegal drugs.
