MANILA, Philippines — The Land Transportation Office (LTO) and its embattled information technology provider, Dermalog, yesterday agreed to work together to resolve issues following their public squabble last week over a slowdown in services.

LTO chief Teofilo Guadiz said the agency is pursuing the activation of the Motor Vehicle Registration Information System (MVRIS), which is seen to reduce the long queues at the frontline agency.

“With this activation, it will be possible to renew your vehicle’s registration without needing to line up at LTO offices around the country,” he said.

Guadiz said the LTO and Dermalog will finalize the implementation of MVRIS in the Land Transportation Management System (LTMS) public portal in the coming days.

The MVRIS will allow motor vehicle renewals, which take up about two-thirds of the total transactions of the agency, to be done online.

Dermalog assured the public that it is exerting efforts to help the LTO in resolving issues after it claimed last week that there was malware in several LTO computers that caused the slowdown.

Guadiz and Dermalog “agreed to support each other to improve customer experience and improve business processes with LTO’s LTMS. The convenience of the motoring public in using the LTMS and transacting with the LTO is what is important,” Dermalog spokeserpson Nikki de Vega said.
