Fire hits ABS-CBN compound

MANILA, Philippines — A fire struck the compound of broadcast company ABS-CBN in Quezon City yesterday.

The Bureau of Fire Protection (BFP) said the electrical fire broke out at around 8:30 a.m. and reached the first alarm.

Firefighters rushed to the ABS-CBN compound at the corner of Esguerra street and Panay Avenue and doused the flames at around 8:39 a.m.

A report over ABS-CBN said the employees at the main building were evacuated and some of the shows were temporarily stopped after smoke was detected on the third floor.

Employees returned to their work stations after the fire was put out.

Arson probers have yet to determine the estimated cost of damage to property caused by the fire.
