Comelec sets calendar for barangay, SK polls
MANILA, Philippines — Amid calls from lawmakers to postpone the barangay and Sangguniang Kabataan (SK) elections, the Commission on Elections (Comelec) released yesterday its calendar of activities for the twin polls.
Under a resolution promulgated on Aug. 10, the Comelec said the deadline for filing petitions for inclusion of voters is on Aug. 25 while the last day to file petitions for exclusion of voters is on Aug. 31.
The last day for the election registration board, citizens’ arm and organizations to verify, certify and seal the list of voters is on Sept. 30.
The period to constitute members of the electoral board and barangay board of canvassers is from Sept. 8 to Nov. 5.
The last day to post the computerized voters’ list is on Sept. 6.
The filing of certificates of candidacy is from Oct. 6 to Oct. 13, except on Oct. 9, which falls on Sunday.
The election period and gun ban will start on Oct. 6.
The campaign period and ban on construction or maintenance of barangay-funded roads and bridges, among other activities, is from Nov. 25 to Dec. 3.
Election day is on Dec. 5. Voting hours are from 7 a.m. to 3 p.m.
The deadline in filing statements of campaign contributions and expenditures is on Jan. 4, 2023.
The Comelec had earlier said it is 70 percent ready to hold the elections.
Comelec Chairman George Erwin Garcia said the printing of ballots and other documents needed for the polls is expected to be completed by next month.
By October, the Comelec said it would ship out election paraphernalia to various parts of the country.
