Businessman killed in gun attack

MANILA, Philippines — A businessman was gunned down in San Jose, Batangas yesterday.

Richard Matulac, 55, was in his Mitsubishi L300 when he was shot in Barangay Lalayat at around 3:50 a.m., according to a police report.

Probers said an unidentified gunman in another vehicle shot Matulac’s vehicle twice, hitting the victim on the chest. Bullet shells for a caliber .45 pistol were recovered at the scene.

The assailant fled toward an unknown direction.

Matulac was pronounced dead on arrival at the Metro San Jose Medical Center.
