Quezon town LGU enforces ‘smile policy’
MANILA, Philippines — Smile while serving the people.
Mayor Aristotle Aguirre of Mulanay, Quezon has ordered strict compliance with the ”smile policy” in all municipal government departments, offices, units and sections.
In an executive order (EO) issued on Tuesday, Aguirre said the policy is among the flagship programs of the Mulanay local government unit (LGU).
During the campaign, he vowed to implement the smile policy as soon as he assumes office to make the public feel that LGU employees are public servants.
Under the EO, an employee or official found to have violated the policy faces disciplinary action. All complaints will be handled by the mayor’s office in accordance with civil service laws, rules and regulations.
Aguirre directed the human resources management office to provide administrative and supervisory functions in implementing the smile policy.
“This policy shall also be included as among the performance targets in the Office Performance Commitment and Review,” the EO read.
