Koronadal cop held for killing woman

KORONADAL CITY, Philippines — A policeman who went on a shooting rampage that left a woman dead and two others wounded in this city before dawn yesterday was arrested in Bagumbayan, Sultan Kudarat.

Pat. Roland Lopez was cornered in Barangay Titulok four hours after the incident, according to the Soccsksargen police.

The fatality was identified as Charmaine Rose Canlas. Lopez’s girlfriend Joanna Saptula and Debbie John Biñas were wounded.

Lopez allegedly opened fire following an altercation with Saptula over rumors that she was having an affair.

Prior to Lopez’s arrest, Brig. Gen. Alexander Tagum, Soccsksargen police director, offered a reward of P100,000 for information leading to the apprehension of the suspect.
