P1.8 million party drugs intercepted at NAIA
MANILA, Philippines — Anti-narcotics agents intercepted yesterday around P1.8 million worth of the party drug Ecstasy at the Ninoy Aquino International Airport (NAIA).
The Bureau of Customs in coordination with the Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency (PDEA) and the NAIA Inter-agency Drug Interdiction Task Group apprehended the claimant of two packages containing the drugs at the Central Mail Exchange Center.
NAIA Customs district collector Mimel Talusan said the parcels came from the Netherlands on Feb. 27 and declared as candies.
Upon inspection of the packages, Talusan said they recovered 1,073 Ecstasy tablets.
The shipment was consigned to Kim Fuentes, who was nabbed while claiming the packages.
The suspect was turned over to the PDEA for the filing of charges of violating Republic Act 9165 or the Comprehensive Dangerous Drugs Act and the Customs Modernization and Tariff Act.
