4 held for selling Chinese flags

Rey Galupo - The Philippine Star

MANILA, Philippines — Four vendors, including an 11-year-old boy, were arrested for allegedly selling Chinese flags in Rizal Park in Manila yesterday.

Maribel Palma, Rose Ann Bancolo, Lerona Martin and the minor were nabbed by park security guards after their photos selling Chinese flags went viral on Facebook.

“We reviewed our closed-circuit television footage and saw them selling the flags,” National Park Development Commission executive director Penelope Belmonte said.

The vendors said three men approached them and asked them to sell the flags while they took photos of them.

Palma said they were paid P100.
