Woman held for Tinder extortion
MANILA, Philippines — A 22-year-old woman was arrested for trying to extort money from an American man she met through Tinder, a dating app, in Quezon City last Tuesday.
Jodelyn Parco was caught in an entrapment operation at a mall along EDSA at around 1 a.m., police said.
Investigators said Parco and the 40-year-old complainant met in person on Tuesday at the man’s condominium unit on Aurora Boulevard.
Parco reportedly broke the complainant’s television set by throwing a bottle of cologne, prompting the condominium’s security officers to turn her over to barangay authorities.
At the barangay hall, Parco demanded P5,000 in exchange for the passport she stole from his unit. When the complainant decided to pay, she demanded another P30,000 but later settled for P20,000, police said.
The American reported the incident to police officers, who set up the sting that led to Parco’s arrest for robbery extortion.
