MANILA, Philippines — The 29,000-strong National Capital Region Police Office (NCRPO) would help the Metropolitan Manila Development Authority (MMDA) in cleaning Metro Manila of campaign materials, a police official said yesterday.

“Let us do away with the bad practice in the past of just leaving behind the campaign materials in areas where they placed them after the elections,” said NCRPO director Maj. Gen. Guillermo Eleazar.

“We would take the initiative of tearing them down and dispose of them properly,” he added.

Eleazar is coordinating with MMDA chairman Danilo Lim for the final conduct of cleanup operations in the entire metropolis.

He also urged politicians to do their share.

“Whether or not the candidates won the Monday’s elections, they should all serve as role models in cleaning up the campaign materials which came from them in the first place,” Eleazar said.
