Pangasinan village chief shot dead

SAN JACINTO, Pangasinan, Philippines — A barangay captain in this town was gunned down on Tuesday.

Edward Ronquillo of Barangay Bolo was driving his motorcycle on his way home when he was shot.

Senior Inspector Mark Ryan Taminaya, San Jacinto police chief, said Ronquillo had just attended a meeting at the municipal hall on the damage wrought by Typhoon Ompong when when he was shot in Barangay Capaoay at around 2 p.m.

A manhunt for the suspect identified by a witness as Christian Bandarlipe is underway.
