MANILA. Philippines — Typhoon Nina did not only flood crops and damage houses in Camarines Sur, it may also derail some dreams.

In the wrath of the typhoon, a makeshift classroom was destroyed, and with it, the dreams and goals of students eager to go back to school next year.

In Grijalvo Elementary School in San Fernando Camarines Sur, the parents of the students had to put up a makeshift classroom since the school does not have enough space to accommodate the students.

"Pinagtulung-tulungan po sana yun ng parents na itayo kasi kulang kami sa classroom," Melody Coronel Pida, a teacher from the school said.

She added that the makeshift classroom was used by two sections from Grade 1 and Grade 6. Was used. The classroom is now no more.

They are now deprived of a classroom that their parents helped build for lack of a proper one, a place to fulfill their dreams, a path to their goals, done in swiftly by the typhoon.
According to Pida, it is impossible to fix and reuse the classroom.

The rest of the school is equally devastated. Trees have fallen, blocking paths inside the school. Parts of the galvanized iron roof of several sections of the school have been blown away and fallen electrical poles mean there is no power.

"Para na din sa mga bata na pursigidong makatapos ng pag-aaral," Pida said.

She said those who want to help may get in touch with Lea P. Vida, principal at Grijalvo Elementary School at 09176522984.
