Sorsogon mayoral bet dies of heat stroke

CAMARINES NORTE, Philippines – Former Sorsogon City mayor Leovic Dioneda, who was seeking to regain his seat, has died of heat stroke.

Dioneda, who collapsed during a campaign sortie on Monday, died while being treated at the Sorsogon MMG Hospital on Tuesday night.

Dioneda was running under the Partido Demokratiko Pilipino-Lakas ng Bayan against Mayor Sally Lee.

He was the second candidate to die of heat stroke during a campaign sortie.

In Mangaldan, Pangasinan, Councilor Alfred Soriano, who was seeking reelection, collapsed after complaining of dizziness during a political rally in Barangay Alitaya last week.
