Meanwhile, MMDA Chair Francis Tolentino on Wednesday met with Cabinet Secretary Rene Almendras to fine-tune operational details of President Benigno Aquino III's recent directive on traffic management along Edsa.

Tolentino said the purpose of the meeting is to finalize implementing guidelines of the impending takeover of the PNP-HPG on traffic management along EDSA on September 7, with the support of MMDA, Land Transportation Office, and the Land Transportation Franchising and Regulatory Board.

On Tuesday, President Aquino tasked PNP-HPG to take the lead in traffic law enforcement along Edsa's 23.8-kilometer stretch and prioritize the clearing of identified six choke points -- Balintawak, Cubao, Ortigas, Shaw Boulevard, Guadalupe and Taft Avenue.
